Hello to all!
We have beautiful weather and our course is in wonderful shape. We did battle a tough growing spring for Bermuda grass though. You might not be aware of this but, Bermuda grass, when dormant (brown in color), requires a night-time temperature in the low 60′s to really thrive. Due to the unusually cold weather pattern this spring we are just starting to see fairway and rough mowers cutting grass.
Starting June 1st our yearly aerating will take place; which will include tees, fairways, and greens. Although this is not our favorite time of year it is a necessary evil in order to ensure good greens in the years ahead. We will close one nine for a week at a time to allow for better healing and for our superintendent to address other issues for that particular course.
Here is our maintenance schedule:
Magnolia: June 1 thru June 7
Azalea: June 8 thru June 14
Dogwood: June 15 thru June 21
