Brunswick Plantation and Golf Resort ® is a dynamic gated golf community in Coastal Carolina that lots of Friendly Folks call Home! Pat and Ron Melvin are one Happy couple that actually lived and met at Brunswick Plantation before their marriage in 2005. Theirs is a story of Intrigue to Amour that endures today!
Pat and Ron did not know each other when they each bought lots to move here in the beginning years of Brunswick Plantation and Golf Resort.
Pat was originally from Wisconsin and still has family to visit there. Pat and her husband, Chuck, had bought a lot to build their house in 1994 to move here from Crownsville, Maryland. Pat had actually won the trip to another resort in this area at her health club in Annapolis, Maryland. However, after playing golf at Brunswick Plantation, she and her husband asked to see property here. Sadly, Chuck passed away from the effects of cancer before they could move into their house on Middleton Drive. Pat moved into their house at Brunswick Plantation in 1999, 6 months after Chuck’s passing.
Ron, originally from Michigan, moved to Brunswick Plantation from Kingstowne, Virginia. Ron had worked at the Pentagon where Dave Mason, who also once lived at Brunswick Plantation, worked. The Masons have since moved to Yorktown. Ron had found out about Brunswick Plantation from a Retirement Fair in Northern Virginia….Not knowing at the time that Dave lived here. Ron’s wife, Linda, had passed away from cancer in 1996. Ron bought the lot at Savannah Greens North in 1997. His house was built in 2002, and he moved into it in 2003.
Department of Defense
Though they never worked together or knew each other then, both Pat and Ron worked for the Department of Defense at one time. Pat worked for the Defense Department at Fort Meade. Ron was an Air Force officer who retired from the Pentagon. During his time in the Air Force, Ron had been stationed in Turkey, Korea, and San Antonio, Texas. So, they both served at the Department of Defense in different capacities before meeting at Brunswick Plantation. It’s a Small World After All!
Walking the Dog…Friendly Persuasion
Pat, being alone since moving to Brunswick Plantation, had several single women she socialized with, as well as some couples. Pat enjoyed walking her beloved dog, Putter, a Chow and Alaskan Huskie, around the Plantation. Ron would slow down his car as he passed by to chat with Pat. Pat and Ron also met at Friday Night Bowling. They were both at a Housewarming for Eleanor and Tommy Tucker when they moved into Brunswick Plantation. So, after several of these chance meetings and conversations, one day in August of 2004, Pat got a surprise call from Ron. They chatted, and a week later, after returning from an out of town trip, Ron invited Pat to lunch at Toby’s…Now known as Pat & Mikes!
