Join the First Tee for its annual “The Golf Ball”
Join the First tee of Brunswick County (TFTBC) for its annual “The Golf Ball” on Saturday, February 16 from 5 – 9 p.m. at 101 Chimney Place in Supply. The optional black tie event features music from The Magic Pipers (a Raleigh area band). The evening begins at 5 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres and cash bar followed by dinner (with complimentary wine) at 6:15p.m. & dancing at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $100 per person with proceeds benefiting The First Tee Scholarship Fund. A Ladies Tea in memory of Gail Colwell will be held on February 17th at Brendan’s Church from 2 p.m.to 4 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased from Karen McCann (287 – 4175) or Ginny Grant (287 – 1870). A raffle will be held along with a 50/50 drawing and a Door Prize. Proceeds will go to a Scholarship Fund in Gail’s Honor for girls from St. Brendan’s Parish. Donations can be made out to St. Brendan’s Scholarship Fund.
Antique Appraisal Fair
Antique Appraisal Fair in Southport will be held on Sunday, February 24th from 1 – 4 p.m. This takes place at the Southport Community Center at 201 E. Moore Street in Southport. This is the 10th annual fair sponsored by the P.E.O. Chapter in Southport. For more information call 910 454-9886.
Horseback Riding on the Beach @ Myrtle Beach State Park
If you love the beach and horses and would enjoy riding on the beach this winter, here is some information that you would find interesting.
(Myrtle Beach State Park located: On south Kings Highway, one mile south of Myrtle beach International Airport) Open Daily 6a.m. – 8 p.m. through February…Beach access for horseback riding allowed daily from third Saturday in November through February, with $25 permit per horse, plus admission. Riders also must possess current Negative Coggins papers for each horse brought into the park, per state law. “We Were There” an Easter Cantata, will be presented by Seaside Sanctuary Choir and Orchestra…Sunday, March 24, 2013 at Seaside Methodist Church…1300 Seaside Road Sunset Beach. Please note that there will be one performance at 5:00 p.m. Please call the church office at 910 579-5753 for Free tickets or see any Choir member. Child care is provided but reservations requested. A Love offering will be received to benefit Seaside’s Food pantry, Free Store, and Pre-School.
Waterway Art Association
Waterway art Association will have a paint-in each Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. until noon at the Silver Coast Winery Barbecue Road in their barrel room. All interested artists are welcome to join this free activity. Please call Barbara at 287-4704 or Mary at 579-4997 for further information.
Dance Like a Star Couples Dancing Lessons
If you and your significant other like to “Dance like the Stars” you see on TV, check out the Brunswick County Parks and Recreation’s Dance Like a Star Couples Dancing Lessons. Classes will meet weekly from February 19 through March 26 at the south Brunswick Island Center, 9400 ocean Highway 17, Carolina shores. The fee is $60 per person. Pre-registration is required. Lucky Leprechaun 5K
The Lucky Leprechaun 5K will take place on March 16 at the Winds Beach Resort in Ocean Isle Beach. Registration begins at 8a.m. and the race will start at 9 a.m. Participants are encouraged to dress in St. Patrick’s Day apparel (Derby hats, beards, green, etc.) and can bring their canine companions. Race proceeds go toward providing scholarships to low income youth and adults. Early Bird registration is $20 until February 23; onsite registration $25. Online registration ends March 13.
