Day Trip To Charleston
Friday, October 18, 2013 …$44 for transportation – Leaving “The Lakes” @ 7am : Arrive in Charleston at approx. 10:am
1:45 Pickup for anyone who is interested in traveling to The Citadel for a Cadet Tour…3:45 Citadel cadet parade with reserved seating…Others may stay in Charleston for the day! Depart 7:15 PM Depart from Bay Street.

Brunswick House Bingo-Wednesday, September 18th
The Fall series of Bingo Games at the Brunswick House begins Wednesday, September 18th. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the first game starting at 7p.m. $10 admission covers all cards for the evening. cash prizes, including a jackpot game prize of $125 & a bonus prize of $100 on the fish bowl number. Twelve games will be called. Refreshments are available. Proceeds will be donated to the calabash Volunteer Fire Department. Come on out for a fun evening and support a worthy cause!
NIS Sponsoring Holocaust Survivor Talk
Please mark your calendars for an interesting evening with Holocaust survivor, Alfred Schnog, on Tuesday, October 1st at 7p.m. at the Brunswick House. Mr. Schnog will speak and then answer questions.
Brunswick Plantation will be the host for the Warrior Ride occurring in Shallotte, Ocean Isle and Calabash on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013. This year’s ride consists of 40 veterans & staff who will be staying on the Plantation as Mason Anderson’s guests. Mr. Anderson has hosted Wounded Warriors, at his own expense, for the past 10 years.
Full Moon Cruise
Imagine the sun setting and the full moon lighting the water as you cruise along the intracoastal waterway with your friends and neighbors. NIS hosts a Full Moon Cruise on October 18th. Folks meet by the ice cream stand at Calabash River Front near the restaurants and fishing boats. we will board the navigator at 5:30 p.m. and sail away at 6p.m. Cost is $25per person made payable to NIS with the facilitators by Oct. 14. Beer, wine, and sodas will be available for purchase along with free hors d’oeuvres. All are welcome! Invite your friends form the area, also. All Aboard!
Octoberfest is Heir on 27 October
Gruss Gott, Mien herren und Damen, Ladies and Gentlemen…Put on your dirndl dress, lederhosen and dancing shoes! Octoberfest is heir on october 27… 5p.m. – 9p.m. at the Brunswick Haus…For everyone on the Plantation! Sponsored by Lakes Social Committee!
Entertainment and music will be provided by Ron Hubbard, a local favorite, for your dancing, festivities, and sing along enjoyment!
Essen includes bratwurst, Knockwurst, Sauerkraut, Hot German Potato Salad, und , of course, bretzels!

Return of Thursday Yoga
Thursday Yoga Classes resume from summer break on Thursdays @ 10a.m. $5 per person & $7 per couple! Marc hopes to see you there!
Yoga for all Levels of Fitness
Saturdays at 10:30 a.m. Vinyasa Yoga is gentle yoga for levels from beginner to experienced yogis. Yoga includes creative flow while linking movement to breath as well as longer holds to build strength and stamina.
Tuesdays at 3p.m. – Active Vinyasa Yoga Class is geared toward the active individual and will:
- Help build strength & stamina
- Increase your flexibility & range of motion
- Improve your mental concentration, balance, & core strength
- Help yo stay Present, Focused, and Calm
Saturdays @ 11:45 a.m. – Chair Yoga
This class is suitable for those individuals with injuries or other limitations. This is an extra gentle practice done mostly seated in a chair for ease of movement & balance.
Classes will include:
- Deep breathing
- Setting an intention or affirmation
- Connecting movement to breath
- Do-in…(Japanese self-massage)
- All classes are subject to room for availability

Stepping It Up
Free exercise program provided by the Social Committee on Mondays, Wednesday, Fridays, & Saturdays @ 8a.m. The Saturday morning sessions are now a full “4 Mile” walk complete with a warm up & cool down. All you need is a good pair of shoes/sneakers! (Bring water!)
Zumba Toning Class
A Zumba-Toning Class will be held on Thursdays from 2p.m. – 2:45 p.m.at the Brunswick House. The instructor is Sara McGrail. Sara possesses certifications in Zumba, Bokwa, Yoga, & Group Fitness Instruction. If you’d like to burn calories while having Fun, then Zumba is 4 U! Adult men & women of all ages & fitness levels are Welcome!
Wear comfortable clothing & shoes. Bring a bottle if water, a towel, & one pound free weights. Cost of class is $5 per class if paid monthly or $7 for walk-Ins. Questions? Call Sara @ 843-446-4269
